The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour received the newly appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Economic Diplomacy, H.E. Sayed Rasool Mohajer. The visit of the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister to the ECO Secretariat on January 19, 2021 was to reciprocate a courtesy call of the ECO Secretary General who visited him earlier on January 10, 2021. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on different activities being collaboratively done from the ECO’s platform for continuing the process of sustainable economic growth and development in the region.

The ECO Secretary General, while appreciating the continued assistance and support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, being the host country, for smooth functioning of the ECO Secretariat, underscored some of the ECO’s key achievements made at the 24th Meeting of the Council of Ministers in Antalya, including the organization’s shift to be more project-oriented as well as the successful completion of reform process and Member States’ agreement on the revised scales of assessment.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, expressing his pleasure and satisfaction over the performance of the ECO, appreciated the organization’s freshly adopted project-oriented approach. He also assured Iran’s full cooperation and support to maintain the ECO’s persuasive efforts for accelerated development and overall betterment in the region.
