H. E. Mr. Qasim Haidari, Honorable Deputy Minister of National Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has met ECO Secretary General, H. E. Dr. Soleimanpour on the sideline of ECO-Habitat joint workshop on “Urban Resilience, Habitat Improvement, Disaster Risk Management and Built Environment” which was held from 11 to 14 November 2018 at ECO Secretariat in Tehran.
In this meeting the Deputy Minister of Afghanistan emphasized on the adverse effects of natural disasters to the economy and people of his country, requested ECO countries to help them to get rid of the risen issue that impose heavy social effects as well as economic costs on the shoulders of people and the government of Afghanistan.
The ECO Secretary General briefed the Deputy Minister about the priorities, objectives and mission of the organization for promoting economic solidarity in the region. He also underlined that the ECO would welcome any program/proposal from the government of I.R. of Afghanistan on natural disasters to be done jointly with ECO developing partners to meet the prioritized needs of Afghanistan on Disaster Risk Reduction.
