The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour participated in an International Conference on the policy of neutrality and its significance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development. The event held on December 12, 2020 was dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality Policy of Turkmenistan. A number of regional and international representatives as well as local dignitaries attended the forum.

The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour participated in an International Conference on the policy of neutrality and its significance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development. The event held on December 12, 2020 was dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality Policy of Turkmenistan. A number of regional and international representatives as well as local dignitaries attended the forum.
Delivering his statement, Dr. Soleimanpour noted that the principles, ethos and practices of neutrality that demonstrates an enduring faith in peaceful coexistence, harmony and benevolence, were deeply rooted in the culture, society and history of the people of Turkmenistan. Appreciating President Berdimuhamedow for his initiative of permanent neutrality and continued patronage of the policy, he acknowledged the rightful exploitation of such values by Turkmenistan.
Underlining the ongoing constructive, interactive as well as cooperative approach in the ECO Region, the ECO Secretary General emphasized that the region’s potential and advantageous opportunities could be availed for promising as well as future-building-and-oriented initiatives to realize various plans and projects for achieving the sustainable development goals. The ECO Secretary General, inter alia, highlighted the organization’s priority for developing regional energy sector, conveying some plans and projects, including ECO Clean Energy Center, ECO Regional Electricity Market and Regional Energy Strategy, aimed at accelerated development and growth in the region.
Dr. Soleimanpour underscored that the promotion of such a kind narrative of neutrality coupled with the notion of cooperation could be instrumental as an engine of objectivity, growth, development and coexistence, nurturing the hopes for collective socio-economic progress.
