The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri delivered a video statement at an International Conference: “Transportation Highways of SCO Member States, also “North-South” and “East-West” Corridors are Base for Mutual and Joint Development” held on December 23, 2022 in Baku.

In his remarks, the ECO Secretary General emphasized the importance of cooperation in transport and communication sector that, he considered, is pivotal for boosting regional and international connectivity and integration. Underlining the notable activities of the ECO for expanding intra-regional and inter-regional linkages, he briefed on the specific policies and programs of the organization, including the relevant legal frameworks, application and implementation of international standard procedures and conventions, infrastructural development, capacity building, technical collaboration as well as coordination and teamwork with relevant international partners and monetary bodies. Speaking about the connectivity policy of Organization, he conveyed that the ECO is ever committed with and adhered to its priority approach for corridors development, highlighting progress on some of the ECO,کs strategic corridor projects, especially for development of road, rail, civil activation and maritime networks.

In addition, the Secretary General underscored that as an intergovernmental economic organization, the ECO shares many commonalities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He assured that the ECO would continue to be part of any such regional and global plans, initiatives and activities which are aimed at greater trade and transport connectivity amongst the nations.

The international event was chaired by the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Rashad Nabiyev.
