ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri visited the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Isa Zarepour, on June 14, 2023.
During the meeting, the Secretary General highlighted the highly important role of Iran in strengthening regional cooperation in various fields, while also briefing the Minister regarding the activities of the Secretariat in the ICT sector. The Secretary General also elaborated on the follow up measures regarding the organization of the Third Ministerial Meeting on ICT in Tehran on 12-13 July, 2023 and expressed Secretariat’s full commitment to hold the meeting in the best possible format.
Honorable Minister Zarepour, while commending the role of ECO in promotion of regional cooperation, expressed his Ministry’s readiness for organizing the Ministerial Meeting and highlighted the importance of the event for preparation of the Roadmap of future regional ICT Collaboration.
The necessity for enhancement of cooperation on ICT, establishment of digital markets and platforms, joint infrastructure development, joint efforts to address international challenges, protection of families, women and children against cyber threats were also discussed during the visit.
