Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour visited Tashkent to attend an International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity, Challenges and Opportunities held on July 14 ,“ 16, 2021.

Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour visited Tashkent to attend an International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity, Challenges and Opportunities held on July 14 ,“ 16, 2021.
The event was participated by several Heads of State, including President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H.E. Mr. Ashraf Ghani, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Imran Khan, as well as high-level government officials of the Central and South Asian countries and the Representatives of some International and Regional Organizations.
While inaugurating the Conference, the honourable President of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored the rich historic and cultural linked past of the Central and South Asian Regions through the Silk Road. Emphasizing on the commonalities between the two regions, he noted that their reconnection was necessary to meet certain ends of mutual interests and benefits. President Mirziyoyev proposed an initiative for strengthening regional connectivity in the context of Uzbekistan’s new open foreign policy strategy aimed at further deepening the economic cooperation in Central Asia with access to South Asia.
The statement of the ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour was also delivered during the conference that acknowledged the importance of common strategy for developing nexus approach to enhance interactions of regional players towards securing a better future. Salient features of his statement, inter alia, highlighted the significance of inter-regional connectivity to materialize the shared aims and objectives of the adjacent nations, underlining ECO’s role for realization of the peoples’ aspiration in wide range of areas, particularly, through development of transport and communications’ network amongst its 10 Central and South Asian Member States.
The High Level International Conference was intended to form a political and expert platform for multilateral discussion of the mutually beneficial strategic model “Central Asia – South Asia” in transport and logistics, energy, trade, industry, investment, technological, cultural and humanitarian domains.
