We are deeply concerned about the recent terrorist attack on the Consular Section of Iran’s Embassy in Damascus. This strike is a clear violation of the rules and regulations of international law, particularly the Vienna Conventions, as well as a blatant violation of diplomatic and consular immunity, and it is strongly condemned. Such despicable acts only contribute to the already heightened tensions in the region, impeding any efforts towards restoring peace and stability. It is crucial that we unite in solidarity against such violence.
The Secretary General also expressed his heartfelt condolences to those impacted by this tragic event.
