Senior officials of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) convened in online format for a preparatory session ahead of the 29th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (COM) meeting, scheduled for November 28, 2025.
Chaired by Mr. Beibit Kulatayev, Director General of the Middle, Near East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and attended by senior officials from ECO Member States and the ECO Secretariat, the meeting worked on key documents set to be adopted during the COM, including the Joint Communique, which outlines strategic initiatives and steps to strengthen multifaceted regional cooperation.
Briefing the participants, the ECO Secretary General Asad M. Khan highlighted the important activities of the organization during 2025, including 17th ECO Summit within the ECO Week held on July 4 in Khankendi, drafting of the Strategic Goals of Economic Cooperation -2035, as well as convening the important Ministerial Meetings, including Transport, Tourism, Interior and Trade. He also informed the meeting on ECO’s future agenda in the priority areas of development, and ECO’s outreach to key regional and international partners for development cooperation.
Discussions and deliberations by the member delegations further highlighted regional challenges and opportunities, emphasizing the importance of enhanced collaboration among ECO Member States to regional cooperation for development.
