The 1st Meeting of Working Group on Tourism Standardization was held virtually on April 18, 2023 under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan with participation of the representatives of tourism authorities from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan, as well as the delegation of the ECO Secretariat.
While welcoming the participants, Director for Tourism Mr. Jasur Rajabov noted that ECO Vision 2025 mandates adoption of common rules and procedures in the tourism sector and establishment of standardization and accreditations bodies, as well as green tourism monitoring mechanisms.
The meeting, inter alia, reviewed development of regionally harmonized quality standards and regulations for advancement of sustainable tourism in the region and improvement of the quality of tourism services and environmental standards.
The participants also shared information regarding tourism standardization regulations in their countries and discussed the ways to strengthen collaboration with international tourism bodies for achieving the goals of ECO Vision 2025.
