The 6th meeting of ECO Permanent Steering Committee on Economic Research (EPSCER) and 5th meeting of the Editorial Board for ECO Economic Journal (EBEEJ) was held on the December 7, 2021 on the online format.

Opening the meeting ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Asanov noted the increasing growth of importance of the Organization, which is evidenced with two summits of ECO Heads of States and Government held in 2021 alone ,“ unprecedented fact. The 14th ECO Summit was held on March 4, 2021 and was chaired by Honourable President of the Republic of Turkey His Excellency Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoؤںan. The 15th ECO Summit was held on November 28, 2021 in Ashgabat and was chaired by Honourable President of Turkmenistan His Excellency Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
ECO DSG J.Asanov said that the current goals and objectives set forth by the member-states put greater emphasis on economic research, statistics and proper analyses. That is why establishment of ECO Economic Research Centre in Baku is expected to give fresh impetus to the activities in this field. J.Asanov once again called on member-states to consider acceding to the Charter of the above Centre.
In line with the agenda and programme of the 6th meeting of EPSCER and 5th meeting of EBEEJ, the representatives of the member-states held discussions dedicated to ECO Economic Research and Outlook for the years 2022-2025, adopted a concept paper “Formulation of ECO Economic Research Policy 2022-2025”, considered and adopted Annual Economic Report 2020.
The meeting decided to elect a representative from the Republic of Azerbaijan as Editor-in-Chief of the ECO Economic Journal.
