On 25 April 2025, the ECO Seed Association (ECOSA) initiated a series of online meetings to bolster seed production development within ECO Region and facilitate information exchange on current situations and investment opportunities across Member States’ seed sectors. The inaugural session, titled Current Status of Seed Sectors and Investment Opportunities of ECOSA Member Countries, spotlighted seed sector of Azerbaijan. This online meeting convened 150 participants from ECO Member Countries.
In his remarks, Mr. Yıldıray Gençer, Chairman of the ECOSA Board of Directors, outlined the association’s activities, objectives, and international collaborations, and announced the continuation of the online meeting series. Mr. Can Aygül, Director for Agriculture and Industry at the ECO Secretariat, emphasized the importance of strengthening technical and management seed production networks through technical cooperation and highlighted upcoming 2025 ECO agricultural meetings for seed stakeholders.
Further, Mr. Fikrat Feyziyev of the Azerbaijan State Department of Seed Control and Registration of Plant Varieties delivered a comprehensive presentation on Azerbaijan’s Seed Certification and Plant Variety Registration System, followed by a Q&A session about Azerbaijan’s seed sector and potential international cooperation.
