On 27 May 2025, the ECO Seed Association (ECOSA) organized the 2nd online meeting as a part of meeting series which was initiated to bolster seed production development within ECO Region and facilitate information exchange on current situations and investment opportunities across Member States’ seed sectors. The session, titled Current Status of Seed Sector and Investment Opportunities of ECOSA Member Countries, spotlighted seed sector of Islamic Republic of Iran.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Yıldıray Gençer, Chairman of the ECOSA Board of Directors, mentioned about the association’s activities, objectives, and international collaborations, as well as importance of exchanging of experiences via these online meeting series.
Mr. Can Aygül, Director for Agriculture and Industry at the ECO Secretariat, emphasized the importance of strengthening technical and management seed production networks through technical cooperation and highlighted the importance of upcoming 2025 ECO Agricultural Meetings.
Further, Mr. Samed Mobasser Former Director at Seed & Plant Certification & Registration Institute (SPCRI) of Iran provided the participants with a comprehensive presentation on Iran’s Seed Certification and Plant Variety Registration System, followed by a Q&A session about Iran’s seed sector and potential international cooperation. More than 90 participants from ECO Member Countries participated in said meeting.
