The second Expert Group Meeting for the establishment of the ECO Advisory Committee on Tourism was held in virtual mode under the chairmanship of the ECO Secretariat. Representatives of the tourism authorities of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan attended the meeting.
The meeting considered and discussed the draft concept note on the establishment of the Committee initiated by the Republic of Uzbekistan during the 16th ECO Summit. Accordingly, the draft concept note was finalized in line with feedbacks from the representatives of the ECO Member States, and the participants were informed about the necessary procedures for the Committee to start its activities.
Following the approval process, the Committee is expected to meet at least twice a year to review regional tourism policies and make recommendations for the overall ECO tourism strategy.
