Experts from the national tourism authorities of the ECO Member States convened for the second time to review and discuss the updated ECO Tourism Capital Selection Criteria in an online meeting.
The Tourism Directorate of the ECO Secretariat highlighted the need to update the existing criteria, which was not fully aligned with some of the requirements. In particular, the revisions were prompted by multiple nominations for the ECO Tourism Capital 2027. The updated document now includes key changes, such as a more standardized approach to the criteria categories, the nomination process and the introduction of a common application form.
During the meeting, the experts shared their views and provided feedback on several key chapters of the Selection Criteria. The final document will be submitted to the ECO’s relevant decision-making bodies for approval.
