The first meeting of the ECO Monitoring Committee for the implementation of the Road Map on Facilitating Accelerated Recovery, Safe and Sustainable Development of Tourism after COVID-19 in the ECO region was held on September 25, 2023 in virtual format.
Inaugurating the meeting, ECO Tourism Director Mr. Jasur Rajabov stated that although there has been an improvement in the tourism sector on a global scale as well as in the ECO region, it might take time to reach the pre-pandemic level. He emphasized that a steady implementation of the Road Map will guide efforts of the Member States to reinvigorate regional tourism and promote its resilience while also serving to achieve the tourism sector objectives of the ECO 2025 Vision.
The representatives of the ECO Member States shared information on the progress of implementation of the activities specified in the Road Map in their countries, such as application of safety protocols, a relaxed booking policy, digitalization of tourism services and etc.
The next meeting of the Monitoring Committee will be held in the second half of January 2024.
