On 28 September 2021 the First Meeting of the ECO Working Group on Information & Communication Technologies was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in cooperation with ECO Secretariat in virtual format.

On 28 September 2021 the First Meeting of the ECO Working Group on Information & Communication Technologies was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in cooperation with ECO Secretariat in virtual format.

The event brought together the esteemed delegations from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Turkey and Republic of Uzbekistan to discuss variety of ICT agendas, share their progress and define future cooperation.

Mr. Khodaei Director of Transport and communication of ECO in his statement emphasized on preservation of digital sovereignty as an important factor in the existence of the states and mentioned that large IT corporations and IT businesses, being in another jurisdiction, seek to compete with the state and its legal institutions, so, there is need to develop our legislation between ECO members.

The participants unanimously agreed to further their efforts on various topics including establishment of regional regulatory framework, cyber security and enhancing regional presence at global level.
