The High-Level Working Group Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction (HLWGM on DRR) discussed strategies for enhancing disaster resilience in the ECO region, with participation of senior officials from the ECO Member States.
The officials reviewed and finalized the Draft Dushanbe Declaration, ECO Regional Framework for DRR, and Roadmap for the upcoming 9th ECO Ministerial Meeting on DRR, ensuring alignment with contemporary challenges and opportunities. Additionally, the meeting critically evaluated various proposals, projects, recommendations and decisions aimed at bolstering disaster preparedness and response across the region. The discussions underscored the collective commitment to fostering collaboration and leveraging innovative solutions to mitigate risks and safeguard communities.
Participants expressed strong commitment to advancing the themes of resilience, cooperation, and proactive engagement as central pillars of efforts and outcomes which will lay a solid foundation for future initiatives, further strengthening and dedication to creating a secure and resilient ECO region.
