ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Dr. Asad M. Khan, participated in an International Conference on the ‘’ Role of Diplomacy in Economic Development’ organized by the Maku Free and Industrial Zone’.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Khan underscored the potential of Maku Free Trade Zone, being one of the largest Free Zones in Iran and hub of regional trade collaboration. While emphasizing the need for setting up a conducive environment for the business communities in the region, he also highlighted some of the initiatives taken by the ECO to facilitate and expand intra-regional trade and investment.
Ambassador Khan underlined the importance of such events in fostering business networking opportunities and showcasing the untapped potential of the ECO region. He reiterated ECO’s readiness to create and collaborate in similar initiatives that drive regional integration and economic growth.
The conference was attended by delegates from public and private sector representatives from different countries and organizations from Iran, Iraq, Türkiye, ECO and SCO etc.
