Meeting between international consultants and the ECO Member States
On 2nd March 2026, the ECO Secretariat organized an online meeting where international consultants shared their findings resulted from two interlinked ECO studies on “Digital Modelling for Advanced Railway Construction and Maintenance of ECO Railways” and “Development of Economic Corridor along the ECO KTI Railway”.
The findings were presented to the representatives of the interested ECO Member States by consultants Dr. Gulzhan M.Arginbayev and Dr. Asset A. Durmagambetov. Among their findings and recommendations, they underlined that besides digitalization of the railway physical infrastructure, it is necessary to increase the level of automation of the transit-transport paperwork along the KTI as the tested section of the whole ECO railways network.
Participants in the online meeting agreed that development of the KTI requires that all en-route countries (Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran) engage in concerted efforts and measures in areas such as administration and digitalization, including digital track modelling (DTM).
