On the sidelines of the First Caspian Forum, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov.

On the sidelines of the First Caspian Forum, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov.
During the meeting, the two parties noted enhanced cooperation of Turkmenistan in the activities of ECO.
The two sides considered the opportunities for more active participation of Turkmenistan in ECO activities including transport, energy, trade, tourism etc. The Secretary General briefed the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the latest developments and perspectives of Organizations, e.g. works on commercialization and transforming KTI into economic corridor; Plan of Actions on Natural Disasters; Afghanistan Advocacy Program; enhancing the role of ECO Trade and Development Bank; Plan of Action on Tourism.
H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov stated that Turkmenistan firmly supports ECO`s endeavors aimed at fostering economic activities in the region. He expressed his readiness to consider all proposals of strengthening of cooperation within ECO.
In the end of the meeting, the Secretary General thanked the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan for his kind guidance on various regional issues. On his part, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan reiterated Turkmenistan’s full support towards ECO and accomplishment of the objectives of the Organization.
