The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri participated at the “Ministerial Policy Dialogue on Our Digital Future” organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of the third meeting of the Ministers of Communications of the ECO Member States, on July 12, 2023, in Tehran.

Chaired by H.E. Mr. Eisa Zarepour, Minister of Information and Communications Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the event was attended by the ICT Ministers of Pakistan and Iraq, as well as high ranking officials of the ECO Member States and neighboring countries. 

In his remarks, Ambassador Noziri underlined that the role of digital technologies goes far beyond simply promoting greater access to the internet and it covers many areas of social, industrial and economic domains of our societies. Secretary General also highlighted that the growing digital technologies entail attractive dividends but at the same time aggressive approaches. The situation requires enhanced multilateralism to collectively utilize the potential of ICTs for supporting our sustainable development objectives, he added. 

Continued by a Q&A session, the forum discussed the potential areas of multilateral cooperation and collaboration in the ICT sector, concerning particularly cyber security and protection of children.
