On 21 August 2022, a delegation from the National Management College (NMC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan visited ECO Secretariat as a part of study tour. The visiting delegation comprised senior members of civil bureaucracy of Pakistan.

On 21 August 2022, a delegation from the National Management College (NMC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan visited ECO Secretariat as a part of study tour. The visiting delegation comprised senior members of civil bureaucracy of Pakistan.

At the very outset, Amb. Khusrav Noziri, Secretary General Economic Cooperation Organisation, welcomed the delegation and briefed them about ECO and various activities being undertaken under its umbrella. Afterwards, the delegation was informed comprehensively about trade and transport activities in the region under the framework of the ECO.

The ECO Deputy Secretary General Trade & Transport, Ambassador Seyed Mohsen Esperi while underlining the actual potential of the organisation highlighted that intra-regional trade in the ECO region had been mere at 9 per cent, which is far less than the global average. Apart from this, ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) and its implementation also came under limelight. Pakistan’s role in ECO as a founding member and an important contributor in the Organisation was also highlighted.

The ECO Director Transport and Communication, Mr. Akbar Khodai touched upon ongoing transport and connectivity projects being carried out by ECO Member States. He also highlighted lingering issues in transport sector in the ECO region.
