On February 26, 2024 a preliminary meeting was held between the ECO Secretariat and the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in virtual mode to discuss preparations for the festivities regarding the official announcement of Shakhrisabz city as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2024 to be held in April 2024.
Inaugurating the meeting, ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Jandos Asanov congratulated the Uzbekistan delegation on selection of Shakhrisabz as the ECO Tourism Capital and mentioned the Secretariat’s proposals and views about the level of participation in the events, the content of the side events and hospitality details.
First Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan Mr. Jamshid Abdusalomov briefed on the preparation process of the event and informed that detailed information on organizational issues will be communicated soon.
Additionally, the sides agreed to accelerate the process of the establishment of the Consultative Committee on Tourism initiated by Uzbekistan during the 16th ECO Summit held on November 9, 2023, in Tashkent.
