The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) successfully organized the Travel and Tourism Symposium 2024, held on June 10–11, 2024, in Islamabad.

Addressing the symposium, Mr. Rana Mashhad Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, outlined the government’s ongoing tourism development plan. He emphasized strategic initiatives to enhance infrastructure, promote cultural heritage and foster sustainable tourism practices across Pakistan.

Mr. Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director of PTDC, highlighted tourism’s critical role in Pakistan’s economy, noting its 5.9% contribution to GDP and creation of 4.1 million jobs. He also discussed strategies for sustainable growth in the sector.

ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Jandos Asanov praised Pakistan’s renowned cultural and historical heritage and its tourism potential. He emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving this wealth and the importance of regional cooperation to showcase and celebrate such a rich legacy.

The event’s program featured insightful panel discussions, a captivating handicrafts exhibition, dynamic cultural activities and valuable business meetings, providing a comprehensive platform for networking and showcasing Pakistan’s rich heritage and tourism potential.
