The Ambassador of Romania to the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mrs. Mirela-Carmen Grecu visited the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization on April 18, 2023.

The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri briefed the visiting dignitary on ECO, its prominent activities and overall functioning. He also touched upon ECO’s growing relations with various regional and international organizations in fields of trade, transport, energy, environment and food security.

During the bilateral interaction, the visiting dignitary expressed desire to foster institutionalized ties between ECO and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). The two sides also discussed potential areas of cooperation and commonalities between the two Organizations.

Welcoming the visiting dignitary’s remarks, Ambassador Noziri proposed preparing a Memorandum of Understanding to be a basis of cooperation between the two Organizations.

The Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization was established in 1992. It has 13 Member States including Romania. The Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Azerbaijan enjoy concurrent membership in both ECO and BSEC.
