September 16, 2025 – Tehran
The Second Iran-Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) National Conference took place in Tehran, on September 16, 2025. The event featured inaugural statements by H.E. Seyyed Abbas Aragchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and H.E. Dr. Asad M. Khan, ECO Secretary General.
The Honourable Minister underscored ECO’s potential to play a pivotal role in shaping a new economic architecture in the region, grounded in the principles of partnership, mutual respect, and shared interests. He emphasized that ECO has the capacity to evolve into a successful model for multilateral economic cooperation. Dr. Khan highlighted Iran’s strategic geographical position, bordering seven countries and sharing maritime borders with eight others, which naturally positions the country as a key trade and transit hub in the region.
The conference was meticulously designed to align with ECO’s founding vision of fostering regional cooperation for development. It featured three specialized panels addressing important themes: Transportation and Intra-Regional Interactions, ECO and New Technologies, and ECO Vision in 2035. These panels brought together stakeholders from government and private sectors, alongside academic experts and researchers, to explore innovative approaches to regional economic integration and development.
