The ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri attended a business event organized by Sarakhs Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the Esteghlal International Hotel, Tehran on December 19, 2022.
The purpose of the event was to showcase the potential opportunities for business and investment in the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone. A large number of participants gathered at the occasion, including local and foreign members of business community, representatives of diplomatic corps, local dignitaries as well as other guests and visitors.
Addressing the gathering, the ECO Secretary General appreciated the SEZ authorities for creating conducive environment for investment in the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone to attract, incentivize and facilitate the business community inside and outside ECO Region. He highlighted the emerging regional and global investment trends, current volume of intra-regional trade, focusing on the vast advantages of the ECO Region for expanding and accelerating mutual trade and investment. Briefing on some ECO activities for greater regional trade, connectivity and integration, Ambassador Noziri assured of ECO’s continued cooperation to support any initiatives that are aimed at increasing trade flows and investment in the region.
The ECO Secretary General also alluded to the recent Operationalization of the ECO Agreement on Protection and Promotion of Investment (APPI) in 2022, targeted at bolstering and winning the confidence of business community to invest in the region. Given the ECO’s enhanced reflection on regionalism in line with its efforts to help ensure post-pandemic recovery of various development sectors, he emphasized the need to create regional supply and value chains in order to seize every opportunity for shouldering the shared economic growth and social development in the region.
