During his visit to Pakistan, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), H.E. Dr. Asad M. Khan met H.E. Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Finance Minister of Pakistan.
Dr. Khan emphasized the need for setting up seamless payment mechanisms to promote trade and investment expansion in the region. He also invited Pakistan to actively participate in the upcoming ECO finance related meetings including the 6thFinance Ministers this year.
The discussion also focused on enhancing the effectiveness of the ECO Trade and Development Bank (ETDB) through universal membership, improved credit ratings, increased capital base, and diversified banking relations. Additionally, the operationalization of the ECO Reinsurance Company (ERC) was also discussed. The meeting concluded with reaffirmation of shared commitment to advancing regional cooperation and realizing ECO’s objectives.
