During his bilateral visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, H.E. Dr. Asad M. Khan, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives.
Dr. Khan briefed the Honourable Minister on key ECO activities and acknowledged Pakistan’s active role in advancing regional cooperation for sustainable development. He invited the Planning Ministry to share insights on developing and identifying viable projects under the ECO framework. Dr. Khan also mentioned that the ECO Vision 2025 is nearing expiry and the inputs from the Planning Ministry would certainly be crucial for crafting the new vision document.
The Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the ECO process and stated that he would represent Pakistan at the forthcoming Sustainable Development Forum in Arkadag, Turkmenistan, in May 2025. The meeting concluded with the mutual resolve to continue working towards the collective betterment of the region.
