The Hamedan Declaration of the 3rd ECO Confobition on Health Tourism was officially adopted by participants of the event, outlining key strategies for enhancing health tourism across the ECO region.
The Declaration welcomes the proposals of the Honourable Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the establishment of a standing committee on health tourism, the development of a comprehensive regional health tourism strategy, and the creation of a digital platform for health tourism under the ECO umbrella.
Three expert panels were held during the Confobition on i) Investigating the impact of Iranian and regional traditional medicine on the economic development of ECO Member States; ii) Analyzing the role of ECO Member States in medical tourism across the region—development strategies and methods; and iii) Iran/Hamedan: A new destination for health tourism
The conference also featured Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings between tourism associations from ECO Member States, including Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Turkish Cypriote State (observer of ECO). These meetings facilitated discussions on thermal tourism, health tourism investments, and related sectors, fostering regional collaboration and development.
