The Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. A.F.M. Gousal Azam Sarker, paid a visit to the ECO Secretariat on January 4, 2022. At the very outset, the ECO Secretary General, Amb. Khusrav Noziri extended a warm welcome to the Bangladeshi Ambassador on visiting the ECO Secretariat.

The Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. A.F.M. Gousal Azam Sarker, paid a visit to the ECO Secretariat on January 4, 2022. At the very outset, the ECO Secretary General, Amb. Khusrav Noziri extended a warm welcome to the Bangladeshi Ambassador on visiting the ECO Secretariat.

During the meeting, the ECO Secretary General briefed the Ambassador of Bangladesh about the key activities of ECO in various spheres. The ECO Secretary General also apprised the visiting dignitary about the six priority areas of the ECO including Trade, Transport and Connectivity, Energy, Tourism, Economic Growth as well as Social Welfare and Environment. The Bangladeshi Ambassador was also briefed about the historical background, current structure and the key decision making organs of the ECO. While briefing about the project oriented approach of the ECO, Secretary General highlighted the key features of the ongoing projects and future plans of the Organization in various fields of regional cooperation.

Ambassador Sarker thanked the ECO Secretary General for providing such a detailed and informative briefing and appreciated the role of ECO in promoting regional cooperation. The Ambassador of Bangladesh expressed keen interest in the activities and projects of ECO in different sectors and expressed his willingness to explore the possibilities for developing cooperation between the two sides especially in the connectivity sector. He also informed the ECO Secretary General about the Bangladeshi Prime Minister’s vision of economic diplomacy and promotion of trade and investment to achieve the economic goals of the country.

In the end, the two sides agreed to maintain contacts and reiterated their interest to explore areas in which cooperation between ECO and Bangladesh can be established in the coming period for the realization of mutually beneficial goals.
