The Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), H.E. Mr. Lazar Comansecu, visited the ECO Secretariat on May 30, 2022. At the very outset, Amb. Khusrav Noziri, the ECO Secretary General, welcomed the Secretary General of the BSEC at the ECO Secretariat.
During the meeting, the ECO Secretary General and the Secretary General of the BSEC held a candid discussion on issues of mutual interest and focused on ways and means in order to develop constructive cooperation between the two organizations. The ECO Secretary General briefed H.E. Lazar Comansecu about the key activities of ECO in various spheres including Trade, Transport and Connectivity, Energy, Tourism, Economic Growth as well as Social Welfare and Environment. Amb. Khusrav Noziri apprised the Secretary General of the BSEC about the present project and result oriented approach of the ECO towards realization of the strategic objectives of the organization. The Secretary General of the BSEC was also briefed about the historical background, current structure and the key decision making organs of the ECO.
The Secretary General informed the Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation that ECO gives special importance to its relations with peer regional organizations and emphasized the significance of mutual cooperation between ECO and BSEC in order to materialize the shared goals of the two organizations.
The Secretary General of the BSEC expressed keen interest in the activities and projects of ECO in different sectors and expressed willingness to establish formal cooperation between the BSEC and the ECO. Following the in-depth exchange of views, both sides agreed to initiate the process for developing cooperative relations for future cooperation in the areas of mutual interest for the realization of common goals and objectives.
