The Second ECO Confobition (Conference + Exhibition) on Health Tourism was held on 18-20 June, 2019, in North Western city of Ardabil, Mohaghegh Ardabili University and Ardabil Exhibition Center.

The Second ECO Confobition (Conference + Exhibition) on Health Tourism was held on 18-20 June, 2019, in North Western city of Ardabil, Mohaghegh Ardabili University and Ardabil Exhibition Center.
The event was hosted by the Iran Chamber of Commerce Industries Mines and Agriculture in coordination with ECO Secretariat, ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO-CCI), Iran International Healthcare Association (IIHA), Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Almost 150 domestic and foreign guests form 8 world countries were present in this Confobition.
The 3-day event which commenced on Tuesday had been attended by the a few ECO Member States namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan. Also the presence of non-ECO representatives at the event was glorious. Including Germany, Georgia, Greece, India, Iraq, Malaysia, Oman, Russian.

The ECO Secretariat delegation including Mr. Memduh Unal, Director of Agriculture, Industry and Tourism and Ms. Nasrin Esmaeili Program Officer of Industry and Tourism participated in this event.
The official opening for the ECO Confobition took place at 09:30 on Thursday, 18 June 2019. The formal sessions of the meetings were held daily from 08:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and from 02:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m.
The ECO Confobition was inaugurated by H.E Mr. Iraj Harirchi, Iran's Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Education. In his statement Mr. Harirchi with mentioning that over the past 10 years, the number of foreign tourists visiting Iran for medical treatment and health tourism has increased 10 times stated that Every year, 300,000 foreign tourists travel to Iran for medical treatment, with a total of $ 1.2 billion worth of revenues.
He named the nationals of neighboring countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan, as the main health tourists entering Iran. He added: “Our goal is to turn Iran into a health center for health in the region, and we can provide health and treatment services for the citizens of neighboring and Muslim countries.”
Mr. Adem Kula, Secretary General of ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO-CCI), Mr. Akbar Behnamjoo, provincial governor of Ardebil, Mr. Hossein Pir Moazen, Board of member of Iran chamber of commerce, mine and Industry and Dr. Mohammad Jahangiri, Iran International Healthcare Association (Founder and Chairman) and Deputy for supervisor & technical affairs of Iran’s medical council also delivered their statements at the opening ceremony of the Confobition.
This event was aimed at introducing economic and health tourism capacities of Ardebil and entire Iran and had 4 panels as under:

Panel IV: Cross-Cultural Interaction and health tourism

In addition there were Health tourism start-ups meeting & Workshop, Workshop for Medical Tourism actors (WFMTA), Exhibitor showcase and B2B Meetings.

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Member of the Board, Öztürk Oran Participated to the Event. In his speech at the conference, Mr. Oran shared the views of TOBB and then visited the exhibition and received information about the health tourism developments in Ardabil.
The outcome of the Confobition was summarized in a declaration at the end of the event and adopted by the participants.
