Within sidelines of Dushanbe Water Conference, ECO Secretary General, H.E.Mr.Khusrav Noziri has met with Dr.Pornchai Danvivathana, Secretary General of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

Within sidelines of Dushanbe Water Conference, ECO Secretary General, H.E.Mr.Khusrav Noziri has met with Dr.Pornchai Danvivathana, Secretary General of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).
ECO Secretary General highlighted importance of intra-regional and inter-regional partnership interest of ECO Organization with focus on the areas covered by Organization, namely trade, transport, energy, environment, tourism, etc. Within international partnerships H.E.Khusrav Noziri has illustrated observership status and partnership documents that ECO has been conducting with UN institutions, as well as other certain organizations in wider region.

ECO Secretary General particularly pointed out that vast majority of ECO member states share ACD membership too. Having common areas of interests to cooperate, both organizations can explore opportunities of close partnership in various field to interact. He also emphasized connectivity as one of priority area within ECO to expand possible cooperation relationship aimed at covering missing links in North-South and East-West transport corridors, serving notion of Silk Road.

ACD Secretary General welcomed and stressed interest to cooperate with ECO. Dr.Pornchai especially briefed on water-food-energy nexus that ECO and ACD may target to address in mutual cooperation area. As for connectivity, ACD also closely follow collaborations within Belt and Road Initiative. ACD representative was also interested to visit ECO Secretariat to continue discussing cooperation opportunities.

Sides agreed to continue discussions, by appointment of focal points.
