The Secretary General, ECO, Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan visited the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on 3rd April 2025. The FPCCI also holds the Presidency of the ECO Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ECO CCI).
The Secretary General congratulated President FPCCI, Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, for assuming the Presidency of the ECO CCI, and assured him of the support of the ECO Secretariat for meaningful collaboration for expansion of intra-regional trade and connectivity. Ambassador Khan invited ECO CCI to play a proactive role in advancing the agenda of the ECO and its objectives for expansion of trade, investment, and tourism and enhanced connectivity for sustainable regional economic growth. He invited the ECO CCI for their active participation to organize the ‘ECO Business Summit’, on the sidelines of the 17th ECO Summit and assist Azerbaijan to organizing a meaningful Business Summit.
Ambassador Khan underscored the importance of an active role of private sector in realizing the strategic initiatives like trade liberalization under ECOTA, Trade Facilitation, and Trade Promotion etc.
The meeting continued with participation of Azerbaijan authorities to deliberate on the review of the preparations of the ‘ECO Business Summit’.
