On 27 November 2021, the Secretary General was received by H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the President of Turkmenistan at the Presidential Palace in Ashgabat. The Secretary General while expressing his deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to ECO delegation by the government and the people of Turkmenistan briefed H.E. on the outcomes of the 25th Meeting of the Council of Ministers (COM) which was successfully held in Ashgabat under the Chairmanship of Turkmenistan on 27 November 2021.
The Secretary General also informed H.E. President of Turkmenistan on the adoption of the Mid-term review of ECO Vision 2025 at the 25th COM Meeting as one of the important documents which was developed under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan during the past few months with the aim of recognition and removal of the impediments on the progress of activities of the Organization as designed for achieving regional goals in ECO Vision 2025.
The Secretary General also expressed his assurance that the 15th ECO Summit Meeting scheduled to be held on 28 November 2021 would be able to provide a solid ground for a further strengthened cooperation among ECO Member States. In this context, the Secretary General referred to the efforts put by the Member States for development of the draft Ashgabat Consensus for Action as a predicted outcome of the 15th Summit Meeting.
H.E. President of Turkmenistan also thanked the Secretary General and his team for the endeavors made by the ECO Secretariat in close coordination with the host country for conducting successfully 15th ECO Summit meeting. He also expressed that Turkmenistan attaches importance to the regional cooperation within the framework of ECO.
Turkmenistan is hosting the 25th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of ECO and 15th Meeting of ECO Summit on 27 and 28 November 2021 respectively preceded by Meeting of Senior Officials Meeting on 26 November 2021.
