The 3rd Virtual ECO Training Course on “Primary Prevention of Addiction” Co-organized by Drug Control Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran, University of Tehran and the ECO Secretariat on December 14, 2022. The event was attended by the representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan and Republic of Tأ¼rkiye. The Representatives from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the International Criminal Police Organization also attended to the training course.
The main objective of the training course was to share the knowledge on the new preventive programs and strategies as well as review of successful drug`s preventive experiences at school, university and at the work place.
Welcoming the participants Amb. J.Asanov, ECO Deputy Secretary General thanked the Drug Control Headquarters of Iran and the University of Tehran for their efforts to organize the event. He underlined that in the past twenty years, the Economic Cooperation Organization has collaborated with its Members to organize various meetings and training courses to promote cooperation in counteracting illicit drug activities, drug supply and demand reduction and associated matters. ECO DSG also informed the participants about the ECO`s agenda in the fields of combating illicit drugs for the coming years of 2023.
During the course, the participants shared their experiences, knowledge and views regarding the community drug abuse prevention, drug abuse prevention at the university, school and workplace, drug abuse prevention models and also drug media policies.
Dr. Hamidreza Rafeipour Tehrani, the Director of the International Law Department of the Drug Control Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran appreciated all the participants for their participation and contribution to make it convenient to conduct this training course. While reiterating the need of effective and expanded cooperation amongst the Member States in the relevant area of activities, he elaborated the measures as well as the successful experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran in different aspect of prevention of drugs addiction.
