A group of university students pursuing a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Organizations at the University of Tehran, led by Professor Nasrin Mosafa, visited the ECO Secretariat for a familiarization briefing session. Welcoming the students, the Secretary General Dr. Asad M. Khan outlined ECO’s core functions, including regional economic cooperation, political dialogue, and sustainable development initiatives, as well as the Organization’s structure and decision making processes. He also discussed ECO’s current priorities and challenges, and provided examples of how member states collaborate to address regional issues.
The students had the opportunity to ask questions about ECO’s role in regional stability, trade facilitation, and multilateral diplomacy. The Secretary General offered detailed responses, shared insights into ECO’s strategic priorities, and emphasized the importance of academic collaboration, research, and student engagement in shaping policy. He encouraged ongoing dialogue between ECO and academic institutions to foster a deeper understanding of regional dynamics and to identify avenues for practical cooperation. He further stressed the need for engaging youth and the importance of educational collaboration within the region.
