The Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) Division for Arab States, Europe and the Commonwealth of independent States held a videoconference on June 8, 2022.
The meeting was primarily arranged to brief the UNOSCC Representatives on ECO activities, structure, legal framework, working mechanisms and the areas of cooperation. The interaction was further aimed at facilitating the regional report on South-South/East-East and Triangular Cooperation to be published by the UNOSCC in 2022.
The online event covered the two sides’ views on issues of mutual cooperation as well as sector-wise briefing by ECO Secretariat on some regional development projects implemented over the years in the areas of trade, connectivity, energy, tourism, agriculture, human resources and sustainable development etc.
The UNOSSC assured that the intended report would be prepared by the end of this year based on the inputs expected from the ECO Secretariat by end of the current month. Moreover, the two sides appeared firmly composed, ready and receptive to continue such joint interactions for supporting, shouldering and securing their developmental goals.
