Tehran, 8 December 2025

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), in partnership with the Statistical Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran, co-hosted a webinar on “Population Area and Its Features” on 8 December 2025. The session was conducted virtually as part of a series of technical capacity-building events offered for ECO Member States.

The webinar brought together experts from National Statistical Offices across the ECO region to exchange knowledge and discuss methodologies for producing and analysing population and area statistics. Specialists from the Statistical Centre of Iran delivered presentations covering key concepts, definitions, and international standards in demographic and territorial statistics.

In its remarks, the ECO Secretariat underscored the importance of high-quality, harmonized statistical data for evidence-based policymaking and effective regional cooperation. The Secretariat highlighted that such data initiatives support the implementation of ECO Vision 2025 as well as the Organization’s forthcoming long-term framework, “Strategic Objectives of Economic Cooperation – 2035.”

This webinar forms part of a broader ECO–Statistical Centre of Iran training programme, which also includes sessions on methods of data production and statistical software applications. The Secretariat further announced that the third webinar, titled “Working with the Statistical Software,” will take place on 17 December 2025, and invited all Member States to participate actively.
