A working meeting was held in Ashgabat on March 26, 2025, with officials and representatives from various ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan. During this meeting, ECO Secretariat representatives presented key legal and technical aspects of the ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement (TTFA).
Participants from Turkmenistan included the Deputy Director of the Transport and Communications Agency, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Deputy Head of the State Customs Service, the Deputy Head of the State Migration Service, and several experts from related agencies. The ECO Deputy Secretary General for Transport and Communication, along with the Legal Advisor of ECO, detailed the structure of the TTFA and its annexes, as well as its current implementation status and it’s benefits for the whole region including those ECO Member States that haven’t joined the Agreeement.
The TTFA serves as the ECO’s framework agreement for transit and transport in the region. The meeting highlighted the importance of developing regional trade, investment, and transport connectivity frameworks, emphasizing the need to enhance resilience and growth amidst an increasingly volatile geopolitical landscape and to revitalize the region’s historical and economic connections.
