On June 20-22, 2022 The Virtual Training Course on Basics of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Remote Sensing on Minerals jointly organized by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Secretariat and the National Cartographic Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On June 20-22, 2022 The Virtual Training Course on Basics of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Remote Sensing on Minerals jointly organized by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Secretariat and the National Cartographic Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Representatives from ECO Member States, namely Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran (host), Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan participated in event.

Mr. Ali Javidaneh, Acting Director General of National Cartographic Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Rovshan Mirzayev, Director for Energy, Minerals and Environment of the ECO Secretariat and Dr. Ali Soltanpoor, Secretary of ECO Geomatics Committee in their welcome remarks underlined importance of organizing such capacity building workshops to contribute betterment of usage of new technologies and know-how throughout ECO region. It was highlighted that workshops should be followed up by new regional cooperation initiatives and interactive dialogue further to address the challenges of member states in the different fields such as health, environment, urban development, agriculture, etc.

Experts for Islamic Republic of Iran have made thorough presentations on application of synthetic aperture radar to the different areas of civilian usage and answered questions of audience.

Participants agreed to explore ways to establish regional cooperation for the application of SAR in their respective countries
